ROK Drop

Where was the Candle Light Vigil?

Today is the anniversary of the two year anniversary of the attack and sinking of the ROK naval vessel that killed 6 sailors (Article). This attack by the North Koreans was deliberate and planned. Yet you see no candle light protest against the North Koreans for their planned killing of Korean sailors. At least the ROK Navy had a memorial for them.

However, the “outrage” over an accident that killed two Korean civilians by the American military nevers seems to die out. Maybe next time if we just deliberately plan to kill some ROK military personnel nobody will care. That is the presedence set by the Korean public in regards to killing military personnel. I wonder if the protestors would even care if the North Koreans killed some civilians? I doubt it because they didn’t even get mad when some terrorists beheaded a Korean civilian. They just blamed who else but America!

Plus the search goes on for the typical Korean governmental escape goat when something goes wrong instead of agressively dealing with the problem. All of Korea should be thankful for the sacrifice those young sailors made for their country. Every day young men and women just like them put their lives on the line every day to defend this country. And the American soldiers do the same in the defense of this country. There is a reason why the North Koreans won’t attack US soldiers. It is because they know we will turn their country into a parking lot. They kill South Korean servicemen to get concessions from the southern government which is working brilliantly. They will need to kill a few more South Koreans pretty soon to get more concessions from the government. The terrorists in Iraq have learned this lesson also. So just wait the terrorists are going to do everything they can to get another Korean hostage or kill some Korean soldiers because they saw the positive effect it had for their cause here in Korea. As long as the weak willed protestors continue to speak and lead Korean policy Koreans will continue to be targets. And Koreans wonder why they are always victims of somebody. Assert some leadership and power and you won’t always be a victim.

23 Aug 04 — Lost your blog a few months ago when the link died. I'm glad to have found it again — you can thank Flying Yangban for the reference. I'm even more glad you've got a comments section now.

I'm not normally a sharpshooter, but I scrolled back to old posts until I found one of your references to "escape goat". And that was my confirmation that this was "you" again; as I recall you used this phrase more than once on the old link. No comments section, no email address then for you so I had to grind my teeth.

Aaargh. It's "scapegoat" (one word). Use it as much as you want — all I ask is that you spell it correctly. No point in telling you to look it up in the dictionary; you'll never find it under the "e's".
