This article I just read in the Chosun Ilbo is probably the best article I have read recently concerning the obsurdity of what is going on in, in what is now the People’s Republic of Korea. This should be must reading for all Koreans. As a chronicled in one of my June postings I thought that it was disgraceful that the Korean people care so little for the sailors that died defending their country compared to two girls who were killed in a tragic accident with an American armored vehicle. The president, generals, government officials, and the soldiers involved all apologized and paid compensation for the accident. The families of the six sailors that died in a planned attack against them by North Korea, not an accident, received no compensation from Kim Jong Il and have not had any mass rallies condemning the attack.
In fact during last week’s memorial service only 150 people attended. President Roh didn’t even bother attending also no high ranking defense cabinet officials were present for the ceremony. Where were the candle light vigils for these brave heroes? Oh wait they were all at Kim Seon Il’s memorial service. A guy who went to a foreign country hoping to strike it rich and got killed in that pursuit. What a great analogy for what is going on in Korea.
A guy who got killed hoping to make money is more important than six sailors who died in the line of duty protecting this country from an adversary sworn to destroy them. The families of these sailors were furious about the lack of public sympathy, public investigation, or outcry against North Korea. One father is in fact removing his sons remains from the National Cemetery in Seoul where all of Korea’s war dead is buried and moving it to his home town where at least he will be honored. One widow of one of the dead sailors reading a condolence letter from the USFK commander to mark the second anniversary, the wife said, “The Americans remember my husband and his brothers-in-arms better than Koreans… Frankly, I hate Korea.”
Other victims family members want to leave the country because they are so fed up with Korea. Can you believe this stuff was actually published? The government better shut down the Chosun Ilbo website quick just like they did all the other blog sites in a campaign to protect Koreans from things on the internet that might actually wake them up from their dream land they are currently living in.
