Why Do Americans Hate America the Most?

I apologize for not updating the blog but I have been out in the field doing something in regard to the current 2ID training for the Iraq deployment. So from time to time I have to go to the field which unfortunately creates large gaps in my blog. However I did read this piece in the Korea Times this morning and I continue to wonder why Americans hate America the most (Article). In many blogs including my own we sometimes seem to bash Koreans for bashing America but to keep things in context, Americans are by far the worst America bashers I have seen. Odashi is down right patriotic about America compared to many Americans. This author is naive enough to think that America wishes to provoke a nuclear war with North Korea, read the author quote below,

“The bottom line is the U.S. is pursuing its own goals within the confines of another country. The potential for tens of thousands of casualties resulting from a nuclear war the U.S. considers “winnable” are considered acceptable because it would be primarily at the expense of the Korean people.”

Does anyone really think America wants nuclear war with North Korea? Typically there are Americans out there who are stupid enough to think this. To top things off President Bush has been getting criticized lately for trying to make the same concessions to North Korea that President Clinton made in order to win some political points before the upcoming election. Well this author thinks we have a vested interest in keeping Korea divided in order for the evil doing American companies to make money. Read this quote,

“How can the U.S. continue to erode away at such obviously positive efforts by so many powerful global leaders? By keeping the peninsula divided, the U.S. is better able to maintain its own economic interest in the region, sitting like a cat on a mouse hole, waiting for the mouse to appear. Here, it is the mega corporations waiting for commercial entities to go belly up, opening businesses to U.S. capital and investment, not having satiated their greed from the billions being made at the expense of the Iraqi people.”

Is it just me but I don’t see to many American businesses doing to well here in Korea. The king of American business, Wal-Mart is getting crushed here by Home Plus. Which by the way I rather shop at Home Plus because it is better then the Wal-Marts here in Korea but that is a whole other story. Also I don’t see to many IBM computers or Ford trucks on the roads here. If anything America wants unification so we can quit sending tax dollars to help with Korea’s defense. Plus unification opens up another market for what American products that do get imported into Korea. Also if America is so intent on stopping unification then why are we doing everything we can to get our soldiers removed from Korea? The vast majority of the soldiers do not want to be here and now the US government is on the same page as the soldiers. They want to get us the heck out here to. As always people fail to blame the real culprits of division. First of all the North Koreans do not want unification as long as Kim Jong Il is their leader. Bottom line there is nothing in it for him if the Korea’s unite. So he doesn’t want unification.

The South Korean government is the second biggest culprits because they don’t want reunification either. They want to keep the status quo. Unification would crush the economy. They saw what happened to Germany. Rebuilding North Korea would be significantly more difficult and costly. So the staus quo of propping up the Kim Jong Il regime and keeping him in power and then bashing and blaming the United States for everything and anything is much more preferable then the difficult task of unifying the peninsula. But odashi better watch out because the Americans are getting sicked of being blamed for everything and our government is slowly but surely beginning a troop pullout from here. So who will odashi have to blame for everything after we leave? He always the old reliable Japanese to blame.
