2ID Troop Reduction Update

More news coming out today about the USFK troop reductions (Troop Reductions). One battalion of Paladin Self Propelled Artillery and another Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) battalion are going to be withdrawn this year along with one chemical warfare battalion. The withdrawal of the heavy artillery is a little bit suprising because they play such a key role in the war plan here. This is an area that the ROK Army will really have to pay alot of money to make up for the security gap that the withdrawal is going to cause. In addition an Apache attack helicopter battalion is also being withdrawn. This is another area that is going to cost alot of money to make up for. I know I will be looking for a new job by spring of next year. Hopefully I can get a job down south in Osan. That would be really sweet. By the time I leave here from Area 1 I will have had nearly 3 years in 2ID. I am also looking for a job in Japan. I have always wanted to live in Japan but there is only one position in Japan for my MOS unfortunately, so it would be a long shot. Who knows they may yet get me again to go to Iraq. Now that is not a long shot.
