Korean Troops Heading for the Beaches of Haiti?

The UN has recently requested a dispatch of ROK Army troops to Haiti to assist in peacekeeping operations there.

“Early this month, we informed Korea’s government of our request for them to send an engineering company consisting of 150 troopers, and asked them to decide whether or not to dispatch troops by next month,” said an official at the United Nations on Tuesday.

The latest U.N. plea has thrown the local government into a dilemma. “Since the Ministry of National Defense has already sent large numbers of troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, we’ve heard the ministry is concerned (at this proposal),” said an officer at the Korean mission to the United Nations.”

Korea has about 4,000 soldiers in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan currrently. The Haiti dispatch is only 150 soldiers. I see no reason why a military with 800,000 active duty troops could not support this request. Korea is one of the nations that preaches the holiness of the UN, well here’s the chance to help out the UN. Plus Korea should jump at this opportunity to show the country is an important player internationally.

If South Korea denies the request the UN should then ask North Korea to dispatch soldiers to Haiti. Wouldn’t that be something if a bunch of North Korean soldiers were goose stepping around the Haitian beaches keeping law and order. I can’t think of a better country to conduct operations in Haiti. They are good at keeping law and order in North Korea another poor destitue wasteland. They could take their show on the road to Haiti and begin by hanging up some “Dear Leader” posters since they got some spares now from the banners that recently got taken down in Pyongyang recently. Then the Norks could open some forced labor camps to begin reconstruction of the country. Anybody caught trying to escape by raft would be used to help fill these camps. I think I am on to something here. What does everyone else think?

Thanks for the kind words. Even us Imperialist Thugs appreciate a Happy Thanksgiving when we can get one. I spent the last one deployed.

I’m sure NorK will agree if the price is right.

1 million per soldier per year, 150 million total? At that price you can have as many as you want.
