It appears Presidents Bush and Roh have finally worked out a strategy for solving the nuclear crisis that they can both agree upon. The US is offering North Korea incentives back by South Korea to end their nuclear program:
President Roh Moo-hyun and U.S. President George W. Bush laid out a package of rewards to convince North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons ambitions during their summit on Friday, Seoul’s foreign affairs chief told reporters.
Ban Ki-moon, minister of foreign affairs and trade, said the two leaders agreed on offering North Korea a security guarantee, substantial aid and improved relations with Washington in exchange for scrapping its nuclear programs.
They also stressed their commitment to a peaceful settlement of the nuclear standoff through the ongoing six-party talks.
How come I feel like this spirit of cooperation will not last very long?
