The mass punishment for the airmen and soldiers on Kunsan Airbase has ended:
The order at Kunsan Air Base that kept troops restricted to base for five days was to be lifted Saturday morning, a base spokesman said Friday night.
Wing spokesman Capt. James P. Lage said 8th Fighter Wing commander Col. Jeffrey Lofgren had decided the restriction would end at 5 a.m. Saturday.
Lofgren ordered the restriction Monday after two airmen and a civilian employed at the base allegedly choked and punched a local cab driver and tried to steal his car in Kunsan city.
The restriction affected nearly all of the 2,000 airmen at the base, as well as about 150 Kunsan-based soldiers of the Army’s 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

Wow that Colonel sure showed them. 5 days of restriction, during the weekdays,to mull over the incident; shoot I hardly go off post during the weekdays as it. Nice for them to get the weekend to go out back in the city to get the chance to assault another cab driver. Im sure the airmen had it rough hanging out in their cozy dorms.

I was thinking the same thing. Like I said before usually these lock downs is just one of those "see I'm doing something" responses to an act of indiscipline.

Cozy dorm rooms? Have you ever been to Kunsan ABS before? My sink does not drain, my tub does not drain, my AC drips but does not work. I have a mysterious pool of water under my roomates bed which causes a musty smell in the room due to mildew. I think its coming from the tub draining out under the carpet. I live with a roomate in a room designed for 1 person, Jets take off about 100 yards from my room, there is black mold growing all over the place here due to the humidity and geting rid of it is impossable. There is not enough room for my clothes or my stuff. I can't own a car here so I have to walk everywhere on base, yes, even when it is raining. when I first got here there was not enough money to issue rain gear so the 1/2 mile walk was just another shower for me when it was raining. Sound prety cozy to you?

Wow, I can't believe all that stuff is still going on!! I was there in 1995-1996, and I thought for sure that place would be better by 2007!! Just plain amazing…
