The USFK court-martial results for the month of June are posted on the USFK website. Here is probably the most interesting conviction this month:
At a special court-martial on 25 June 2007, Technical Sergeant Christopher S. Bowman, 8th Security Forces Squadron, was convicted of absence without leave, dereliction of duty, false official statement, wrongfully posting sensitive law enforcement information on public internet sites, and wrongfully posting and maintaining information on public internet sites about how to violate military leave policies to travel to foreign countries to have sex by paying bar fines. His adjudged sentence was reduction to E-1, confinement for six months, and a bad conduct discharge.
Another Military Policeman/Security Forces servicemember in trouble, which seems to be a continuing trend. Overall though USFK behavior was much approved in June compared to past months.
You can read the rest of the results below the fold:

Interesting. Can somebody tell me (perhaps a former JAG), if the UCMJ includes sentencing guidelines for particular offenses? Is this left up to the presiding judge(s)? I see some margin between AF, Navy/USMC, and Army sentences handed down for like offenses.
9:27 am on July 4th, 2007 2
Yes…as you can see here, it does spell out the maximum sentences for each article violation.
JAG is the enemy…thanks to Trial Defense Service (TDS) manipulation of UCMJ, a skilled military lawyer will get the maximum sentence greatly reduced, which looks very good on his OER.

Mark, you are 100% correct. I’ve had JAG officers lie to me, and then say it was perfectly acceptable to do so if it reduces a sentence for a soldier. WTH?

Well atleast this was not a case of BAH fraud which the Airforce seems so good at

you know what so interesting about this court martial about TSgt Bowman…it was full of lies. Here what really went down…and this is coming from me..TSgt Bowman:
In 2003, I saved a newbies guide to the Philippines under my yahoo 360. In this 8 page guide, they had a small paragraph that spoke of clubs, bars, and barfining. The section on barfining is what got me in trouble. I did not post this for others to commit an offense, and i had it saved as a blog for future reference. This was my defense in my case. Why cant folks have the freedom to store info on thier computer, as long as its not classified? I was busted, because some bible thumping commander, said what i did was a dis-grace to the Air force…come on..get real…the military established these so called red light district’s..they have even formed town patrol to control the activiities in the district’s. I am guilty of going AWOL for 13 days for a period of 04-06, and most of these days were break days i used in conjuction of leave…it’s not like i vanished for 13 days. As for the town patrol posting…this was a discussion about town patrol in yahoo chat, and i had mentioned that town partol does sweeps after curfew…i didnt give a detailed time tbale of the patrols, or location…i just made a blanket statement, that TP does sweeps after curfew…again i was busted on this as well. I took a PTA (Pre Trial Agreement)..in which if i was sentenced a BCD..i would not go to jail or lose strips….sounds to good to be true…well its true…and the reason i got this, if because the prosecution team did not have evidence..and the evidence they did have was made up…In my closing argumants…i stated that the 8 SFS and the commander was full of shit…and they are the ones that were a dis grace to the Armed Forces. This is what got me the BCD…the judge didnt like my attitude…but you know after almost 18 years of being in…and 10 years here in Korea and numerous awards i have won, along with character letters from Gen Yeager(ret), Gen Engle(space shuttle pilot), Gen Coleman(retired top cop), and CMSGTAF Gaylor(retired)..i should have been treated with better respect. Ive have established programs, chartered national organizations….somethign wasnt not right with the outcome on the case. How could 1 NCO, with an outstanding military record (also i failed to mentioned my 8 years with President Clinton in the White house military affairs office), end up at a court martia?..in where he was not arrested at any time, not put on any restrictions, and only interview once. Article 134..prejudice of good order….you havent heard nothing yet! Im about to drop the dime on an 7 AF commander that up in Osan right now…in terms of bribery….stay tune for the released of this story in Stars and Strips…I have already spoke to them about it..upon their investigation and any other info…they will released the story!!! Take it Selazy Kimcheeville!!!

GI, I don’t get your spam filter. My posts vanish without even a “waiting for moderation” half the time.
I’m about ready to write a bandwidth-hogging script to test the limits of what can be posted so I know what kind of music the fiddler’s playing.

…and the snowball starts rolling.
I’m not going to steal TSgt Bowman’s show… but it seems he is a first-hand source to a lot of corruption-in-USFK (especially Air Force) that I have been writing about in the last few years.
Take it away, Chris… and draw it out. Don’t spill it all at once.
And, Chris, I might add that Stars & Stripes is beholden to the Man. If they print anything too counter to USFK press releases, the reporter will have to get an O-6 to approve communication to him of the latest high school sports scores… effectively ending his “career” in Korea. There is word from the top to over any S&S reporter who gives a black eye to USFK.
There are strange things afoot in USFK right now… a stranglehold on information and a lot of questions being asked by serious players.
Are they to solve problems? Or for damage control? Nobody knows quite yet…
…but many are watching.

Chris,
I think what got you more than anything was your AWOL status than the internet postings. You cannot just cannot go to the PI without a leave form and force protection plan. The last time I had soldiers go on leave to the PI they had to get an 06 signature and the leave forms that were approved were for soldiers who had family in the PI. I had a guy that wanted to go to the PI just to tour around and our 06 would not approve the leave form because he knew what the soldier was probably really up to in the PI.
You probably couldn’t get your leave form approved so you just went to the PI anyway. Your Yahoo 360 posting was just icing on the cake to the AWOL charges. You had over 17 years of service in with you say 10 years in Korea. This leads me to believe you probably have taking off to the PI before without following proper protocols and it finally caught up to you. I’m sure there is probably more to this story as well, but it appears you AWOL status by going to the PI is what did you in. If it was just the internet posting stuff you would still be in the Air Force today with minor punishment IMHO.
Chickenhead,
You have been banned as spam in so many places that the Akismet keeps marking you as spam, also your language gets you marked as spam as well. Tone down your language and quit pissing people off to where they mark you as spam and possibly the Akismet will stop marking your IP address as spam.
Also I think the Stars and Stripes generally does a good job reporting military scandals. Who else besides militarycorruption.com has reported on the whole Jill Metzger case? Stars and Stripes. If Chris has the goods on bribery that can be proven and not just unproven speculation than I’m sure Stars and Stripes will report it. However, Stars & Stripes is not going to risk their creditbility by printing rumors about bribery. That is what the internet is for.
I don’t like corruption and unfortunately we have seen to much of it USFK judging by past incidents and I’m sure there is more that we don’t about yet, but rumors should not be spread about people that can’t be proven. I’m curious to see if Chris is just spreading rumors because he is pissed off at his chain of command for busting him for going AWOL or has facts to back his claims. I’ll be watching the Stars and Stripes to see.

GI,
I’m not sure if you are aware of it, but somebody has been making irritating posts under the name of ChickenHead. While the style attempts to imitate mine, the content does not.
I ignored it with the hope that it would be obvious to the average reader… but it appears maby people don’t think and read at the same time.
I would hope that my real posts do not piss off informed and educated readers… being that I write sincerely and factually about events and situations that affect everyone.
As always, I welcome anyone to tell me why my statements or conclusions are wrong.
Also, when I referred to Stars & Stripes, I was referring to the local, Korea-based S&S… which is engaged in some selective reporting but no real journalism.
There are a large number of incidents within USFK which are in the public interest and would have been reported on in the past… but which are now being concealed. Some of this, I could agree with (presuming the intentions of leadership are pure) but much of it simply fosters incompetence as it covers the embarrassment of negligence and poor leadership… and it reinforces a culture of secrecy and unaccountability which is exploited by the careerist and the corrupt.
