Well, at least you threw in the word “allegedly,” so I hope all the boys and girls out there in K-blogosphere know what it means when a Korean “alleges” something against a GI.
Hoju Saram has it right.

It’s hard to take any newspaper story at face value, especially when the scenario seems unlikely. If I were to go around punching in the face all the guys who stared at me, my arms would be bloody stumps by the end of the day.

Mark,
There is definitely a reason why I put allegedly in the posting:

I have seen this crap one to many times.

Koreans stare at me too!
Is it because they are sizing me up for a brutal, strong-arm robbery? Deciding how best to cook and eat me? Creepy eye-fuckers plotting on my tight, manly ass?
No.
It probably has something to do with my white skin and big, round eyes that don’t look like what they have seen all their lives.
Anybody who is bugged by being stared at in a completely safe place where they look radically different has some serious self-esteem problems.
When I catch someone staring, I just smile at them. I say, “Hello!” if they are children and I wink at the pretty girls.
This has never served me wrong and I usually get, at least, a smile back. I suggest everyone try it.
As a bonus, it sure wins a lot of hearts and minds to Brand America.
J!
