You have been kidnapped by a religious death cult, two of your friends have been murdered by the death cult, your nation has just paid millions of dollars in ransom money, and the military and fellow citizens have withdrawn in disgrace due to threats from the death cult which has brought the entire nation under international criticism for its actions. After your release what is the first thing you would do?
Well for the Korean hostages recently released in Afghanistan the answer is to go shopping:

The hostages were transported by plane from Afghanistan to Dubai and during their lay over in Dubai they found time to do some Duty Free shopping. This apparently has caused much anger among Korean netizens who are wondering who paid the bills for the shopping spree.
You would think that if they had enough time to go shopping they at least could have found some time to shave.

They’re safe, and for NOW that’s all that matters. I couldn’t care less if they went shopping. After nearly 5 weeks of claustrophobic confinement a little shopping isn’t such a bad idea. Not that they deserve any VIP treatment.
Later on, however, they have to face the music. I still contend that missionary work and Christians have been unfairly targeted in Korea. These people would be home by now if they followed proper safety procedures, there was a sizeable missionary organization in place already.

I they kept their snouts out of other peoples business perhaps we could have avoided this all together. If there is any country on earth that does not need more religion, it’s Afghanistan!
As far as the shopping itself, CLASSIC!

maybe they weren’t in Afghanistan for missionary purposes…..even the Taliban could use a massage parlor. Those parlors are highly profitable.
