This news definitely is going to help the image of foreign English teachers in Korea (HT: Greg):
Thai police today said a man being hunted around the world after posting online pictures of himself raping young boys is a 32-year-old Canadian who is currently in Thailand.
Police Colonel Apichart Suriboonya said the suspect arrived in Thailand last Thursday.
"Thai police are collecting evidence and information from neighbouring countries and other Interpol members to seek a court order for an arrest warrant,” he added.
Interpol - the International Criminal Police Organisation - has so far only identified the man as a teacher of English at a South Korean school, and yesterday said he was believed to be in Thailand. [The Age]
This guy fled Korea one week ago and is on the run in Thailand. What an absolute sicko and hopefully he didn’t abuse any children while teaching in Korea. Hopefully the authorities in Thailand can track this guy down.

It is highly likely (even probable) that he molested children in Korea. If he is bad enough for Interpol to be after him then he is a multiple offender. Psychaiatrists say that they CAN’T stop…the only way to stop them is to lock them up or kill them….even if you cut it off and feed it too them (as EFLGeek suggested on another blog)…they would still do it. It would be difficult to imagine that he could have lived here and not kept up his activities.

This Canadian English teacher is hiking in the mountains with one of his young students.
At some point, they venture off the trail and wind up rather far from any sign of civilization… and it’s getting dark… and the sounds of the forest start closing in.

I’m just having a bit of fun… and it should be obvious for the very reasons you pointed out.
…but, keep in mind…
…when the spaz kid stammers, “Am not!” it just makes all the cool kids yell, “Are so!” that much louder.
Canada is a beautiful country filled with nice people (and, it seems, a great university)… but one of its faults is a tendency to yell, “Am not!” at the slightest provocation… real or imagined.
…not really so bad compared to the stereotypical flaws of many other nations… but this habit is merrily exploited with mock seriousness for amusement by U.S. Americans.
Some day, Canada will catch on that we are only teasing… then we can team up and pick on Mexico.
Until then, I’m guessing its only the clean water and fresh air that keeps all the stressed-out, hyper-sensitive Canadians from dying of heart attacks.

I think he is stupid for going back to Thailand which is where he committed some of the crimes. Unless he is trying to flee to another country overland from there. Maybe Vietnam where he supposedly has taught at before and is familiar with and the police wouldn’t really be looking for him.
I figure the guy cannot have to much money right now figuring he is living on an English teacher salary and his bank accounts and credit cards have probably been frozen by the authorities. He will have to eventually come out of hiding in order to work so I think it is only a matter of time before he gets busted.
