The US military is now part of the "Republican right-wing noise machine" according to Salon’s Glenn Greenwald:
the U.S. military, like everything else, is becoming rapidly politicized, fully incorporated into and following the model of the Republican right-wing noise machine. … the Army’s behavior in the Beauchamp case is exactly what one would expect from an increasingly politicized, Republican-controlled division of the right-wing noise machine.
Greenwald’s complaints stem from an email he allegedly received from the head Public Affairs Officer (PAO) in Iraq Colonel Steven Boylan. You can read the entire email here. Boylan hasn’t confirmed ever sending the email but what follows from Greenwald in response to this email is bizarre to put it nicely. That email must have really hit a nerve judging by his reaction.
If Greenwald wants to talk about politicizing the military than how does he explain all the leftist politicization of the military? I would love to see him explain the Amnesty International plants (see here & here), the leftist plants, the "phony soldiers", lying soldiers, the misinterpreting recruiting numbers to claim a draft is needed, the playing politics with body armor, or the creation of false perceptions of the military like claiming recruiters target minorities so they can die on the frontlines which isn’t true. Or how about using IVAW group as part of an astroturfing campaign for larger media outlets? How about publishing an article from a soldier with an obvious agenda in the New York Times. I can go on and on about the leftist politicization of the military yet Greenwald wants to claim that the military is part of the "Republican right-wing noise machine" because the head PAO officer in Iraq sent him an email that further destroyed what little creditability Greenwald had after his sock puppet scandal.
If anything Colonel Boylan is doing his job and combating the left-wing noise machine that publishes lies and distortions about the US military nearly every day. Colonel Boylan used to be the head PAO for United States Forces Korea and has much experience in fighting slanted leftist media coverage from his time in Korea and I do mean fighting in the literal sense because he was attacked and stabbed by some thugs in Korea. Greenwald ain’t sh*t compared to dealing with the leftist Hankyoreh every day.
A whole lot more on this issue over at the "right-wing noise machines" of Michelle Malkin, Jules Crittenden, Milblogs, and CDR Salamander.

[...] Well now Colonel Boylan is making a name for himself once again and instead of being in the center of left wing hate in Korea he is now in the center of left wing hate from America. [...]

Add to that list congressional Democrats voting on a useless resolution that would accomplish nothing but interference with the executive branch relationship with Turkey, damaging ties and potentially making life harder for U.S. troops (i.e., loss of Turkish air space, etc.).

Be careful Richardson you may be accused of being part of the right wing noise machine. I wonder if there is a card or something that is handed out to be part of this group because I haven't gotten mine yet?
