Another BAH Fraudster Goes to Jail

They never learn; no matter how much you tell people not to commit BAH Fraud when they first arrive into country they still continue to do it:

A noncommissioned officer saw her 14-year Air Force career end Tuesday with jail and a bad-conduct discharge after she pleaded guilty at Osan Air Base to bilking the service out of housing allowance payments.

The scammed payments made to Tech. Sgt. Terri S. King of the 51st Logistics Readiness Squadron totaled $5,442.60, according to prosecutors.

King also was sentenced to reduction to the military’s lowest pay grade, and forfeiture of two-thirds pay for six months.

Under a pretrial agreement, King will serve five months in jail.

Military judge Lt. Col. Greg Friedland sentenced King after she pleaded guilty to larceny and making a false official statement.

King claimed in basic housing allowance and related paperwork that her children lived in Staten Island, part of New York City. It was later found that the children actually lived in Warren, Ohio, a city that entitles servicemembers to a lower basic housing allowance for dependents living there. For the love of God people if you put down a high housing rate area such as New York or San Francisco on your housing paperwork you are pretty much guaranteed to get investigated for housing fraud.  I really think a number of these people who get busted for housing fraud since a number of them have been NCOs is that they may have done a prior tour to Korea where they got away with housing fraud or heard about someone who did and decided when they came back to Korea they could get away with it again.  Times have changed and military authorities have vigorously cracked down on housing fraud in recent years and another NCO has sacrificed their career because they thought they could get over on the system.

On a side note compare the punishment for the NCO for lying on her housing form compared to the NCO I profiled earlier this week, who conspired with her husband to forge her promotion to staff sergeant and fraud the government out of thousands of dollars.
