I can only imagine how many people in Congress and the American left are dissapointed by this news?:
American military deaths in Iraq have hit their lowest point in 20 months, with commanders and soldiers saying the numbers show marked improvement in the security situation throughout the country.
The Pentagon has thus far reported 39 U.S. servicemember deaths for October, down from the 65 reported in September, which itself had been the lowest in 16 months. The October number is the lowest since March 2006, when 32 deaths were reported. [Stars & Stripes]
Here is an interesting graph as well:

If you are Hillary Clinton you would need quite a “willing suspension of disbelief” to ignore this, but ignore they will or if you are McClatchey you just demagogue military suicide rates.
Here is my prediction of what the end of the year headlines in the news media will look like. Though monthly casualties have dropped to pre-Battle of Fallujah levels, by the end of the year the total US casualties will surpass any other year since operations in Iraq began thus the media headlines will be that the surge has failed because casualties for the year have increased. Of course buried at the very end of the article will be the context that an increase in combat troops combined with these troops invading Al Qaeda strong holds and killing them is what has led to reduced military and civilian casualties across Iraq. Does anyone doubt my prediction?

So handing out coins is not unusual but ones with religious quotations on them are unusual. However, McClatchey’s track record is very poor. [...]
