By Due to the criticism of putting Shin Saimdang as the first female on Korean currency a slight change has been made by the Korean government. Fortunately one of my very own ROK Drop readers just so happens to have an inside scoop on the slight altercation that has been made to the won note:

No word yet about new Midget of Toko-ri coins yet. You can bet I’ll be the first to tell you if any are announced.

Never having been in military and thus being unfamiliar with USFK subculture save for what I could glean through AFN public service announcements (those ads reminding GIs to close their sock drawer were ESL teacher faves), I had to google “Songtan Sally” to get the joke.

She previously worked free lance in Itaewon 94-96 and TDC in98-99. Songtan Sally that is.

I am a big supporter of Songtan Sally.
Unlike most action in Songtan, with Sally, you get what you see and the price is reasonable. There is no human trafficking and she gets all the profit for her work.
Even though she is kinda hard on the eyes, she gets enough customers to stay in business… something which everyone would rather pretend wasn’t true.
I even knew one guy who was such a regular that she sometimes did him for free. He even bragged about eating it.
He wasn’t right.
There are some dirty GIs. Loneliness, alcohol and a cash shortage heighten this effect.
There are some much older and far nastier ones than Sally. I sat at the Edge with one and bought her beers in exchange for information.
I learned some things I would rather not know.
