The Canadian parliament has recently passed a comfort women resolution:
Canada;s parliament on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution condemning Japan’s wartime enslavement of Asian women for the sexual gratification of its soldiers. The Canadian House of Commons in the resolution called on the Japanese government to admit its enslavement of over 200,000 women from neighboring Asian countries during World War II. It urged Tokyo to pay compensation to victims and to clarify in textbooks that the Japanese military committed the war crime.
Japan had reportedly asked Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper to help block passage of the resolution, saying it did everything necessary for the victims, the so-called former comfort women. The U.S. and Dutch parliaments approved similar resolutions in July and November. [Chosun Ilbo]
My criticism of this is the same as with the US Congress; what are the chances the Canadian Parliament issues a resolution condemning the modern day sexual slavery of North Korean women in China? Not likely since no one wants to upset China while everyone knows Japan won’t do anything about it.

Any bets the person behind this resolution is trying to score cheap political points with a domestic Korean & Chinese voting block?

I just remembered that I did a posting about this 8 months ago:

The guy pushing this is wacky leftist who was hoping the ruling conservative government would shoot down this resolution so they can condemn him. Just like the US congress resulution it is all about politics and nothing to od with comfort women.
I maintain once these people start passing resolutions condemning China for modern day sexual slavery of Korean women than I’ll care what they say.
