Sonagi: "The would-be assassins probably have a lift back north awaiting in the waters off Seokcho."
Kukusu: "Agreed. This all started on Kangwon-do..."

GI Korea's added map has probably resolved this issue, but the attack took place on the West Coast, not the East Coast - Kang-hwa, not Kang-won. A few years ago, Korean soldiers had their weapons stolen in Gangwondo.

Despite that, my wife, a member of the Korean Coast Guard in Sokcho, was alerted by text message that evening. It's funny that the local police were slow to act but fast to prepare other police groups even on the other side of the country.

"It sure seems like the hard way to get a gun."

First of all, those aren't just "guns."

Second, they're not traceable to NK, so they have immediate value in terms of anonymity.

Third, what's so hard about running a pedestrian over with an SUV? Seems pretty easy to me.

The DPRK have done plenty to drive wedges in the alliance. The Inter-Korean Summit was one monumental effort to drive a wedge into the alliance, as is the faux peace treaty that Roh keeps promoting. None of it is working, so I'm guessing they're getting desperate.

We'll see soon enough.
