Ban Ki-moon Full of Hot Air

Do as I say not as I do:

The UN secretary-general today called on world leaders for immediate action on climate change - before flying thousands of miles to the US for a music concert and then leaving in the interval to jet to Europe.

Ban Ki-moon has been slammed for planning a round-the-world trip that will generate thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions just days after he leaves the UN meeting in Bali.

The South Korean has organised a post-conference trip, starting on Sunday, that will see him fly to attend the concert in New York, adding more than 4,300 miles to his itinerary. When he leaves the island after the summit Mr Ban will fly to East Timor, and then to Japan where he will briefly stop before catching another flight to the US.

The flight from Tokyo to New York takes him the wrong way around the world to arrive in time for the reception of a Korean concert-at Carnegie Hall, where he is the guest of honour. The concert is titled Around The World In Eighty Minutes.

The UN is expected to announce plans to offset the emissions generated by all agencies involved in the Bali conference by contributing to various environmentally friendly projects.  [This is London] (HT: Reader)

Is it just me or has Ban Ki-moon been more worthless than Kofi Anan?  The irony in all this is that while all these world leaders play the lip service game in Bali and do absolutely nothing about global warming (remember these people have ulterior motives); a real man made environmental crisis is happening on the west coast of Korea and the only country doing anything to aid Korea is the United States.

Now, now. Let’s not over-react. Ban Ki-Moon has a long, long way to go before he reaches the Marianas Trench levels of worthlessness that Kofi Anan did (though he is off to a promising start.)

Man-made global warming is a Limousine Liberal’s dream come true.

Ban must learn it from Al Gore.

so are we suggesting that he should walk or take a boat back to New York or the other places that he has to go in the performance of his ‘duties’?
I hate to be the one to point this out but if we want to point the finger of uselessness perhaps we should just point it right at the UN in general?

They could have done a teleconference for their great meeting but that doesn’t get you the free vacation to Bali. Its okay though because their sins are forgiven by buying carbon offsets probably from Gore’s company.

Planes will keep flying with or without Ban.
    It is not his fault.

Private airplanes that these people fly around in don’t have to fly. Why don’t they fly commercial to Bali like the rest of us if they are so concerned about global warming?

    GI,
You are pointing your finger to the wrong place and people.

Except for the moment he is farting, I don’t know how he alone can contribute with global warming. Flying airplanes? Billions of people in the world do the same. In one or other way.
Again, you are pointing your finger to the wrong place.

Billions of people do not fly their own private airplanes like the people attending this conference did. Why didn’t they all especially Al Gore fly to Bali in a commercial aircraft like everyone else visiting Bali?

They did not want to because that would be an inconvenience to them but they want to inconvenience the rest of us with their global warming alarmist claims.

Just like the Anti-Gun lobby in States. All those those famous people who are anti-gun have body guards who carried guns all the time like Rosie O’Donald or Martin Sheen to protect them against Pro-Gun people.
