Another MP Convicted & Sentenced

Just another reason why NCOs should stay away from female soldiers in the barracks:

A military policeman was sentenced to nine months in prison and a dishonorable discharge after being convicted of indecent assault and other charges in a general court-martial Thursday.

A five-member officer panel spent about three hours deliberating before acquitting Sgt. Carlos Salinas, 188th MP Company, of rape but finding him guilty of the lesser, indecent assault charge.

Salinas earlier had pled guilty to fraternization with another woman and guilty of two counts of adultery. He was found not guilty of a fourth charge: making false official statements.  [Stars & Stripes]

Make sure to read the whole sordid tale.  He is probably getting screwed over by the soldier in the article, but he brought it on himself by putting himself in a situation to be accused of rape in the first place.  The fact that he is married only further adds to the mess he put himself in.  Adds this to long line of MPs being convicted of crimes in USFK.

GI Korea, nobody is getting screwed over here. Like it or not, military police just like civilian police, are held to a higher standard because they are law enforcement. Every single person who enlists in the military for the MOS of military police, knows this. They need to have squeeky clean backgrounds to get that MOS, so knowing that and knowing they are going to be held to a higher standard should give them pause to think about what they are doing and whether or not they might be breaking the law and ruining their careers in the process. What Pvt. Salinas did was wrong and he obviously knew that or he wouldn’t have pled guilty. The same holds true for the Air Force’s military police involved in the drug scandal. Their careers in law enforcement are over, not only in the military, but they blew any chance they had of getting hired by a law enforcement agency stateside. I don’t know about you, but I’m glad these people are no longer involved with military law enforcement. They certainly aren’t good role models and not capable of performing their jobs as professionals. Not exactly the type of people I would want backing me up.
