Was there ever any doubt this was going to happen?:
North Korea will likely fail to keep its promise of declaring all its nuclear programs by the end of the year as the communist country and the United States differ over the scope of the program list to be disclosed.
North Korea should disable its key nuclear facilities in Yongbyon and disclose its entire nuclear program this month under an agreement reached at the six-party talks. In return, it will get economic aid and political concessions such as the normalization of relations with the United States. [Korea Times]
Why do these negotiator even bother writing in deadlines with North Korea when they never meet them and the negotiators never hold them accountable for missing them? They might as well just write on the agreement the deadline is when ever North Korea feels like meeting it.Â
This current delay is due to North Korea not wanting to declare its highly enriched uranium program. I have long maintained that North Korea will only give up this program if the price is right and so far the US is not willing to give North Korea the type of aid it wants in exchange for coming clean on the HEU program thus the current delay. So the North Koreans will keep playing the delay game until the State Department gives in like they always do because they are desperate to keep the Myth of Progress and the Six Party Charade going.
