You have to tell us the hotel you stayed at:

My wife and I actually tried the 100,000 won fish for one of our dinners while visiting Wando and it was quite good, but not worth 100,000 won. The rest of the time we ate huge seafood meals for under 20,000 won for both of us:

"Chollanam-do who I find to be super friendly." - GIKorea

The funny thing is, Chollado is the hot bed of anti-American part of Korea by far.

Hi all again. I lived in Wando for 6 months as outlined above. The island and town are beautiful. I saw it in the heat of summer which really is hot and humid. however winter brings chilly air and snow. !! yes, snow on an island 34 Deg north! I really enjoyed the town and the nearby islands. Wish I could have visited more by the ferry.
See the photos above - I went to many of those places and more.
please take a read of my blog of my time there. You will get personal insights into the life of an Aussie man living on a Korean island. It was personally tough at times but as a tourist, you'd need a few days to a week to take it all in. Well worth the bus ride down from Gwangju. but beware of the 'coffee shops' !! Paul

hello again dear reader!
I have since moved to Wando town. I work at one of the two high schools here. There Canada and two from the USofA.
I do miss Aussie food. Lamb is non existant here as the mountains are too steep and the remaining land is under crop or built up.
Sure Wando is a beautiful and peaceful town. it's cought between subsistance farming and 21st C high rise living with ultra fast internet.
if you search my blog via Google look for Wando or Paul's Korean journey, you will find photos and more info.
i love it here except that 99% of the people do not speak any english.
enjoy visiting wando town and wando island.

hi, thanks for this very informative photo-blog about Wando Island. I am planning to go and teach English in the high school there. I love fish, but will miss aussie food i'm sure. Did you happen to see a school on your journey? Paul (from near Sydney, AU)
