You should read up on the Foreign Military Sales program. I don't think you quite understand how it works. Yes… I'm afraid nations have to pay for military hardware. For you to suggest the US is selfish for not giving ROK some sort of preferential treatment is like an American complaining that I have to pay full price for a brand new Hyundai car. There is no free lunch anywhere, "Dr. Yu" – including Korea.

Koreans who truly want self reliance are against unification. A post unification Korea will be more dependent on foreign nations or NGOs for economic aid, humanitarian assistance, and large amounts of foreign capital.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who defends Pyongyang at this point is anti-Korean.

Keeping Kim Jong-il in power is about the cruelest thing you can do to North Koreans.

And now that they have nuclear weapons, the issue goes even beyond their squalid borders.

Are you hinting that you want the debate to be over? That is the usual tactic for those who want to avoid reality. Just ask Al Gore.

The reason why we keep revolving is because all roads lead back to the fact that Sunshine Policy economics are a disgrace to both the North Korean non-elite who get nothing and the South Korean taxpayers who get stuck with the bill (and who also get to vote).

We keep revolving on the same place, with the same worn out arguments just to find out that thinks will remain the same regardless of how much we discuss and argue.

Korean Self Reliance Project ???

You might want to re-title that as "North Korean Self Reliance Project (paid for by South Koreans with Zero Accountability)"

Fortunately, the majority of South Korean voters saw through that facade and overwhelmingly rejected the senseless Unification/Self Reliance economics that you prescribe.

And since those South Korean voters have had to actually pay the bills, their word carries far greater weight than a Korean ex-pat living in Brazil.
