Another month and another group of USFK’s finest going to jail. Most of the USFK cases I have already high lighted here before on the ROK Drop such the rape conviction, the mail frauder, the drug abuser, the rape acquital, and the indecent assault. In the ROK court cases just more of the typical stupid stuff including one of the soldiers involved in not paying the taxi cab driver that ripped them off, being convicted of quasi-robbery and having his sentence suspended. I have to wonder how much in blood money he payed though.

Something unusual I saw in the ROK court cases though was that a soldier was actually acquitted of charges brought against him for indecent assault. This is the first time I have seen a USFK soldier cleared for a crime in a Korean court. Possibly the fact that the crime the soldier was accused of did not make media headlines is what allowed a Korean judge enough cover to find the soldier not guilty or maybe the case against him was just that bad. Who knows, but it is good to see at least one soldier was found not guilty in a Korean court.

USFK Court-Martial Results for December 2007
At a special court-martial on 5 December 2007, Private (E-2) Adrian L. Lyles, 19th Adjutant General Company, United States Army Troop Command-Korea, was convicted of making a false official statement and wrongfully receiving stolen money. His adjudged sentence was reduction to E-1, forfeiture of $867 pay per month for four months, restriction for 60 days, and hard labor for 90 days.

At a general court-martial on 6 December 2007, Specialist Leon Mealing, Jr., Headquarters Support Company, 602d Aviation Support Battalion, was convicted of rape. His adjudged sentence was reduction to E-1 and 90 days confinement.

At a special court-martial on 10 December 2007, Specialist William F. Fow, 629th Medical Company (Area Support), 168th Multi-Functional Medical Battalion (Area Support), was convicted of wrongfully accessing another’s computer, wrongfully possessing a controlled substance, and computer fraud. His adjudged sentence was reduction to E-1, six months confinement, and a bad-conduct discharge.

At a general court-martial on 11 December 2007, Sergeant Quincy T. Babers, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 19th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), was acquitted of making a false official statement, rape, and unlawful entry.

At a general court-martial on 13 December 2007, Sergeant Carlos R. Salinas, 188th Military Police Company, 94th Military Police Battalion, was convicted of having an improper personal relationship, indecent assault, and adultery. His adjudged sentence was reduction to E-1, nine months confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and a dishonorable discharge.

At a general court-martial on 15 December 2007, Private Joseph C. Gattman, E Company, 4-2 Aviation Regiment, was convicted of assault and indecent assault. His adjudged sentence was five months confinement and a bad-conduct discharge.

ROK Criminal Prosecution Results for December 2007
In Uijongbu District Court on 5 December 2007, Private First Class Joshua R. Avery, B Company, 702d Main Support Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, was convicted of aggravated assault. His adjudged sentence was a 1,500,000 Won fine.

In Uijongbu District Court on 5 December 2007, Private First Class Joseph S. Hathcox, B Company, 702d Main Support Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, was convicted of aggravated assault. His adjudged sentence was eight months confinement, suspended for two years.

In Seoul Central District Court on 7 December 2007, Private First Class Travis H. Jackson, E Company, 2/2d Aviation Battalion, was convicted of quasi-robbery. His adjudged sentence was confinement for one year, suspended for two years.

In Daegu District Court on 18 December 2007, Private First Class Joshua R. Dickson, HHD, 168th Multi-Functional Medical Battalion (Area Support), was convicted of infliction of bodily injury. His adjudged sentence was a 700,000 Won fine.

In Suwon District Court on 28 December 2007, Private First Class Lucas A. Thornton, 2/2d Aviation Battalion, was convicted of indecent assault. His adjudged sentence was a 2,500,000 Won fine.

In Suwon District Court on 28 December 2007, Private First Class Henry Miller, III, C Company, 2/2d Aviation Battalion, was convicted of indecent assault. His adjudged sentence was a 2,500,000 Won fine.

In Suwon District Court on 28 December 2007, Specialist Terry L. Brown, HHC, 2/2d Aviation Battalion, was acquitted of indecent assault.
