Here is a totally a random useless Korea fact for everyone. I never realized this, but Chuck Norris first began studying martial arts while stationed as an Air Force policeman at Osan Airbase in 1958. The legend goes he got beat up in a fight in the ville and wanted to learn how to defend himself so he started studying Tang Soo Do which is an early form of Tae Kwon Do.Â
When he returned home and left the Air Force he began to work for Northrop Aviation and worked part time as a Karate instructor. He eventually became a full time instructor and became in 1968 the Professional World Middleweight Karate Champion which was a title he held until he retired in 1974. Norris eventually got into movies, which made him famous but he did not give up on learning Korean martial arts. In 1996 he became the first westerner to be awarded a eighth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.Â
Here is a picture of Chuck Norris with one of his Korean trainers Grand Master Kim Jae-joon:

Since Chuck Norris is so skilled in Korean martial arts it makes me wonder if he is the most famous Korean style martial artist of all time? Off the top of my head I can’t think of any other Korean martial artist more famous than Chuck Norris.Â
