Korea’s Largest Chinatown to be Built

Looks like Incheon’s "Chinatown" will have some competition:

The groundbreaking ceremony of Gaoyang Chinatown was held in the city of Gaoyang, South Korea on January 28th. More than 200 people, including the Chinese Cultural Centre’s Executive Director, Wang Xinming, and Gaoyang City Mayor Jiang Xianxi attended the ceremony. Jiang Shenghuan, president of the Seoul Chinatown Development Company which is responsible for the construction, said that it will make Gaoyang Chinatown South Korea’s largest Chinatown.  [People’s Daily]

I have to wonder if this latest Chinatown will have the one thing that is important to any Chinatown, Chinese people?

Yeah, it is supposed to be Goyang. In Incheon’s Chinatown there are a few establishments that do have Chinese cooks.

In China, there are Chunghwa Yori places where you can get a bowl of liquid tar over noodles for three times what you’d pay for a delicious! authentic bowl of black bean noodles (you can actually see the beans) at a local restaurant. These aren’t for tourists, either; nearly all of their customers are South Korean residents of China.
