Here at the ROK Drop I like to highlight stupid criminals in the hope other soldiers will read it and don’t repeat the stupid crimes that frequent blotter report. Well this crime is about as stupid as it gets:
Staff Sgt. Kenneth Zepeta, of the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, six months in prison and a demotion to E-1 after being found guilty of larceny and two specifications of disobeying a superior commissioned officer during a general court-martial at Camp Humphreys.
He was found not guilty of two counts of being absent without leave and one count of failure to obey a superior commissioned officer. Zepeta will serve less than two months, having been awarded 128 days of credit for pretrial confinement.
Military Judge Col. David Conn waived the forfeiture of pay and allowances that normally accompanies a sentence of six months or more, citing the needs of Zepeta’s wife and children. Zepeta pleaded not guilty to larceny, but he admitted being guilty of the lesser charge of wrongful acquisition.
He testified that he found Pfc. Amber Fox’s debit card on the floor of his office on Aug. 17. He used it to purchase $371 in clothing and phone cards from the post exchange. [Stars & Stripes]
This idiot threw away 12 years of service, is being imprisoned, and receiving a bad conduct discharge that will follow him the rest of his life over $371 bucks. Incredibly stupid and I can assure you he won’t be the last.

Thank God the system works! Put this scum back on the streets of America and get him out of the Army. What a POS that gives soldiers a bad name. There should never be a “3 strike rule”, but there should be a “hit by pitch” rule that gets rid of every scumbag that commits the slightest crime. We all know stealing is wrong from, I don’t know, the age of 2. Why give a scumbag a second or third or fourth opportunity to get caught stealing. How many times does a thief steal and not get caught?
