UPDATE: I’m not very good at this whole color thing so I would appreciate some feedback on the colors I chose for the links, the post banner, and the blog banner. Thanks.

I am currently working on the template. I recently upgraded my version of Wordpress and the K2 theme I have been operating for over a year now became really buggy and would keep collapsing. So I have installed the xMark theme I have been using over at Forward Deployed, which I have been pretty impressed with.
If you have any opinions or suggestions about the theme let me know now so I can implement them while I’m currently changing the theme. Thanks.

I dig the template you currently have (the one with the soldier in the top left corner) over the ones you have had in the last few days. Just my two cents.

With all due respect, as of right now, this site looks like ass.

To be honest I’m not that crazy about it. I think the main thing is that it seems really busy on the right side. Also, I’m not really feeling the orange used for each new post. While I wasn’t crazy about the set up you had a few days ago, I prefer it to the new one. Mind you I have no experience in webdesign, just sayin’.

I’ll withold most judgment until later tweeking is done — but I do have to say I don’t care for the ads placed in such a spot as to draw immediate attention. I know that is what I’d do if I were trying to draw clicks on them and all, but ads are one of the things I find most annoying about Korean news sites and other sites in general. I try to ignore them….but here you have them right at the top at a spot that makes that harder.

Okay gents I made the colors less bright and look more Army like. I also cleaned up the sidebar a little bit by getting rid of the Blog Rush widget for example. It didn’t bring in to many new referals anyway. I kept the Amazon widget because I like to use it to search for books.
The Google ads pay for site and the right sidebar one on top is the 2nd most popular so I’m not going to remove that one. The most popular Google ad is the one on the top banner for the single posts. It by far brings in more money then any of the other ads. I could probably double my revenue if put that banner ad at the top of the blog full time but I think that would look to annoying.
I have to go to work now but I may tinker with it more later.

GI, the site looks fine. I also liked the minimalist Wordpress blue standard yesterday afternoon. I just have two quick recommendations: kill the calendar, and drag the feeds container down to the bottom of the right column.
Of course, you need the ads to keep it going, but I hate ‘em on a few levels. But it’s your blog and you can do whatever you want with it.
On another note, perhaps I’m not as observant as I thought I was, but I just made the connection that you’re also Forward Deployed. Great work, and thanks for all you do, my friend.

I killed the calendar and moved the feeds to the right sidebar. I want to keep the feeds towards the top so people wanting to subscribe have an easy time finding it.
Just so you guys know the search feature, the archives, and the sitemap on this theme a much better than the K2 theme if you are looking for older posts in the blog.
Right now I’m just hoping I can get the color scheme squared away.

The theme collapsed again to the default Wordpress theme.
So I know it isn’t a K2 theme problem now. It looks like I am going to have to put in a work order request to my webhost provider to figure out what the problem is.
What a pain in the butt.

Gents I have reset the theme and turned off all my plugins except my recent comments and Akismet spam plug ins. I think one of my plugins may be causing the site to crash. So I will turn them on one by one over the weekend to see if one of them is causing the site to crash.

The red letters on brown background for the two RSS feed titles Rok drops latest and Forward deployed do not show up very well . but strangely the first one shows as white text in firefox but both show as red in News Net Wire.

Ever since I have upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress the program has been acting funny but I have disabled all my plugins for theme except for a select few that I redownloaded to ensure they were compatible with the latest Wordpress and then reset theme.
So far Wordpress hasn’t collapsed since I have done this. If it continues to hold up I will activate more plugins tomorrow. As far as this theme I really like it but the default red link colors I think are hard on the eyes.
Does anyone like the default red link color?

I like this theme a lot, except for the fact that there’s no header image (just a personal preference). I may even give it a whirl on my fishing site to see how easy it is to customize. But I do like the version of K2 I’m using a lot and will probably stick with it…aside from some slow loading times, I’ve never had a problem with it.
