Korean Foreign Minister Advocates for PSI

This is interesting:

Foreign minister-designate Yu Myung-hwan Wednesday expressed support for South Korean participation in the Proliferation Security Initiative, a loose coalition of countries committed to stopping the spread of so-called weapons of mass destruction. "We have to find out if there is a more positive way of participation in the PSI after achieving a national consensus,” Yu told a parliamentary confirmation hearing. "The PSI is an international effort joined by 86 countries to interdict suspicious ships coming into each country’s territorial waters. Some people mistakenly believe that it is an effort to interdict ships in high seas." [Chosun Ilbo]

I will be amazed if South Korea actually ever fully joins the PSI and actually stops and inspects any North Korean ship.  This may just be more rhetoric from the new Korean government to flaunt their pro-American credentials that ultimately will lead to nothing.

Jesus GI Korea. What's up with your Anti-Korean sentiment? Or are you just an extremely negative person from the heart?

Remember, negative thoughts attract negative energy, which will lead you to a miserable life. This is no different than the law of gravity.

The ROK has made its position quite clear on North Korean ships passage through the outer island channel (for many years) and entry into Pusan harbor (last year). The installed "nuclear" sensors in Pusan, but that's as far as they're going to go. End of subject.

As to the PSI, it is simply a bunch of old navy buddies having a jolly good time on the high seas playing catch the pirate. It's more of a wave the flag exercise of countries that have signed on to the US anti-terrorism campaign.

How is this anti-Korean? I'm stating the obvious that it would be amazing to see the South Korean military stop and inspect a North Korean ship. The American military won't even inspect a North Korean ship what makes people think the ROKs will?

The ROK Foreign Minister knows this, which brings up why is he saying it in the first place?
