It is now becoming much clearer why Hugo Chavez is rattling war sabers with Columbia over their raid into Ecuador that led to the death of a top FARC leader and a number of prominent guerrillas:
Colombia’s police chief said documents were found in the raid in Ecuador showing that Chavez gave the FARC $300 million. Venezuela denied the charge and said it had its own evidence that the police chief was a drug-trafficker.
Colombia also linked the slain commander, Raul Reyes, with an official close to Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa.
“The government of Ecuador energetically rejects these accusations which cynically add to the hostile attitude shown in the recent violation of our sovereignty,” Ecuador’s government said. [Reuters]
If Columbia can prove this connection this would be a huge blow to Hugo Chavez’s creditability though he would surely deny it all, but it would be interesting to see what the legal consequences would be for be caught directly funding a recognized terrorist group. The possibility of facing international sanctions for funding a terrorist group may be the main reason for the reactions from Chavez and his Ecuadoran satellite state.

We can’t be expected to police the world. Either the world gets on page to stop terriorizm, or we need to take care of business and take the criticism from them afterwards. The pacifist of this country and the world are going to get us all killed while we are lying in bed.

It quite clear Columbia is intent on taking care of business to eliminate terrorism in their country. It just continues to amaze me how the liberal establishment (ie-Hollywood) can champion Hugo Chavez when clearly he is promoting terrorism through FARC in a neighboring democratic country.
