North Korea Signs Trade & Defense Deals with Uganda

I can only imagine what no good North Korea is up to signing trade and defense deals with Uganda.  Does anyone doubt that Kim Jong-il and Idi Amin would have hit if off if they were contemporaries?

I'm sure we could arrange for KJI to meet Idi Amin in person.

Well Mark if the food situation in North Korea is as bad as OFK is reporting then Kim Jong-il may just get his chance to visit Idi Amin:

They probably would have gotten along grand. That being said, the current Ugandan government is one of the closer US allies in Africa, and I believe US Special Forces still train the Ugandan army. The Ugandans were also the first country to volunteer to send troops to Somalia to support the Ethiopian (and US)-backed provisional govenment.

If I had to guess here, I'd say this was something like the arms sale the North Koreans made to the Ethiopians (with Washington looking the other way), i.e., the North Koreans play with the same toys as the Ugandans, and it's just easier for the Ugandans to get parts and replacements from Pyongyang.
