This was the first blow to Korean baseball fans and now it appears a second major blow in less then a year may be hitting Korean baseball.  Can it get any worse?

BK never got along with anyone. All his teammates really hated him. The fans hated him too, but who can blame them. BK gave them the finger.

It shows you how little American MLB scouts understand Asians. They think all Asians are the same, and Koreans will fit in just because Japanese fit in. Guys like Matsui and Ichiro are loved by their teams, fans and the local media. They are just being themselves. Japanese are good people, and fit in well in America.

Korean base ball players are like BK, who liked flipping off the fans, Jae Kuk Ryu who killed an osprey (for fun). Lee Seung Yeop claiming he is “home run king”. That sort of arrogance doesnt fit in well with MLB fans.

I think Korean base ball players are getting quite a bad reputation.

In fairness Chan Ho Park has been a good pro for a long time and I have never heard anyone say that he was a pooor teammate. He just getting old and in the twilight of his career now.

Chano park has been inducted in the fantasy baseball hall of shame.

and since he left LA, he is widely known as one of the most overrated players ever.

“It’ll go down in history as one of the all-time dumb [ free-agent] signings,” the Rangers source said.

actually I don’t know how his teammates feel about him.

His contract may be overrated which isn’t his fault. If someone wants to pay him that much money I can’t fault him for taking it. However his time with the Rangers was a disaster.

Park does have a 113-88 career record as a pitcher which is pretty good but not great. His career ERA is 4.40 which is pretty decent.

Park is in no way a great player but he has had a long and pretty good career and cannot remember him every making headlines for any off the field problems. If he would have just stayed with the Dodgers I’m willing to bet his career stats would have been much better.

    GI,

    you are forgetting something.

Korea wants PARK to hold the record for most victories in MLB by an Asian pitcher.

Right now he has 113 wins. Hideo Nomo has the lead with 123 wins. (I can not find the link to the Korean newspaper that encourage park to be realty to have this title.)

Personally in a few years I hope Chien-Ming Wang has the record (He plays for the Yankees.)

You ‘might’ be right about the link to a news article you are mumbling about…

But… Koreans don’t give a crap about the number of wins other Asian pitchers have… they don’t care! Let’s just say that IF Chan Ho Park achieves the status, it will put smiles on their faces… but it ain’t all that exciting enough to be a party conversation, nor do they go around a Taiwan related blog to talk about Chan Ho Park when the article is purely about Taiwanese players in MLB.

You are a typical Island Chinese in westerners disguise… Mike McStay Fong~

    BBALL.

NO. I want Mr. Wang to hold the record, because he pitches for the baseball team I have cheered for for 30+ years, the New York Yankees.

If he was Korean, Chinese or from Japan, I would have said the exact same thing.

Park is all washed up. The MLB record will stay with Nomo.
