“You can go to the countryside in Korea there is many beautiful areas.”
Fair enough GI Korea, but the countryside has ditches full of trash. Of course, it could be worse, but the countryside that I have seen is just as dirty as Seoul, Taegu, Pusan, and other cities I have seen.
Maybe I should not have said ” a layer of filth. I should have said “garbage almost everwhere”. And some places are clean.

Hmmm… one can probably expect a number of grand construction projects under the new administration.
…but that doesn't interest me. I'm more interested in where I need to sign up to participate in sailing and speedboating on the pristine blue waters of the picture.
Anyone know where the boat ramp is in Seoul?

Those look sharp.
Living in Korea makes me envious of all their renovation/reinvention schemes. I mean, even out in the boonies down here, resorts are going up all over the place, they're hosting international expos, they're building vibrant commercial centers, and they're bringing in F-1 racing. Pittsburgh built two stadiums (with taxpayer money dammit) yet has been struggling to attract businesses to the stadium area. It has been trying for years to make the downtown a vibrant area again, but as of yet nothing has worked. And the only construction projects are the ones deforesting the hills, building superfluous suburban communities, and keeping the roads permanently under construction.

Chickenhead, I have seen people wind surfing out on the Han River before but after taking a boat trip on the Han River before and seeing the pollution in it I couldn't imagine falling into that water.

Korea looks much better when an artist draws a picure. The North Koreans and South Koraens are excellent at this. It is a type of propaganda.

The Han is a filthy cesspool, you got that right. But if you go anywhere in Korea, there is a layer of filth everywhere. Grime, leftover road pizza, dirty air.. the list is long.

Don't agree with that statement. You can go to the countryside in Korea there is many beautiful areas. It is not fair to label the entire country by what you see in Seoul.

Chickenhead,
If your serious there is a boat ramp on the southside of Hangju bridge (Far west end of olympic Expressway). The only problem is you must have military permission to launch. While doing many illegal things in the area I noticed boats being launched numerous times.

You all can correct me if I'm wrong but looking at the picture, it looks like they plan to build these lovely buildings directly beside the Banpo bridge? Unless they've done some real work upstream from here during the rainy season all three of these building will be under a lot of water. I remember water lapping at the underside of the top span of the Banpo a few years back and the closing of the bottom span for many weeks during the rainy season. I wonder if this little problem has been solved?
