The “Impostor”, “Fraud” & “Traitor” – Lee Myung-bak

New President Lee Myung-bak must be doing a fantastic job considering the praise North Korea is giving him:

In a commentary entitled “The South Korean Authorities Will Reap Only Destruction from Confrontation” with North Korea, the daily mentioned Lee’s name as many as 49 times, calling him an “impostor”, a “fraud” and a “traitor.” “The Lee regime will be held fully accountable for the irrevocable catastrophic consequences to be entailed by the freezing of inter-Korean relations and the disturbance of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.”

It slammed Lee’s “denuclearization-opening-3,000” plan as “reactionary pragmatism.” “Even a boiled cow’s head would burst into loud laughter,” it said.  [Chosun Ilbo]

For those that don’t follow North Korean issues, when the North Korean media slams you like this, that means you are doing something right.  This nonsense is all in response to the ridiculous apology demands from North Korea as well as new Korean President Lee Myung-bak’s policy of reciprocity in regards to aid to North Korea along with promoting North Korean human rights issues.

Robert Koehler reports that the South Korean military has politely told North Korea to go F*** Off:

At 10am, military authorities sent the North a radio message in the name of Major Gen. Kwon Oh-sung, the head of the South Korean delegation for intra-Korean military talks, saying, “We think it’s inappropriate for you (the North) to arbitrarily interpret and make an issue out of remarks made by a figure on our (the South) side… We find this very regrettable.”

I can only imagine that the South Korean military must feel quite good having their testicles restored after 10 years of leftist rule in South Korea that allowed the North Koreans to walk all over them.  It must feel even better when their own government is no longer treating them as criminals.

I agree with Robert that I would not be surprised if the North Koreans try to do something to increase tension further on the peninsula to influence the upcoming national assembly elections in South Korea.

I posted earlier under Rob about my background, Korean-American, happy about the new regime, etc.. Then I realized someone else posts under Rob, so I'll go by Boston Rob.

I spent a weekend with my father and brother visiting a family friend who was a general, I think Division 2, of the ROK Army on the DMZ. This was nearly 10yrs ago or so, and he's long retired.

I agree with the sentiment posted here, of the ROK Army having support restored. Seriously, a strong democratic country must support its military who defends them bravely.
