ROK Drop Weekly Linklets – 20APR08

The Koreas
- A frontline report that the indoctrination of Korean children is working quite well.
- If you haven’t read this thread about imperialist English teachers westernizing Korean students I highly recommend you do so. For further comedy make sure to read this follow on link.
- Obviously this kid has been westernized by imperial English teachers.
- Have you ever wondered how to get around Mokpo? Well here is a transit guide to get around this seaside city. Mokpo is actually a nice city by the way if you haven’t been there before.
- I agree, this is a pretty odd picture.
- More from the Metropolitician about the unfair abuse of Yi So-yeon by the Korean media and netizens.
- This week is the 28th anniversary of the uprising that brought down the first Korean President Syngman Rhee.
- Interesting look at all the different names Kim Jong-il has been called over the years.
- Somebody pooping on Korean science again.
- What does Lee Hyori’s breast a metaphor for Korean celebrity?  Find out here.
- Thinking about working at a Korean women’s university? Make sure not to flirt with the staff.
- Robert Downey Jr. was recently in Korea and was interviewed about the upcoming release of the Iron Man movie.
- Keanu Reeves was in town too recently and unlike Robert Downey Jr. he ended up pissing off the Korean media.
- Korean juicy boys in action in Hongdae.

Japan
- If you can believe it 80% of the women who entered Japan between 1990-2000 on entertainment visas were prostitutes.  It makes you wonder what the yearly percentage for Korea is now?
- A list of the Top 11 Anime characters that Japanese people wish they could be.
- People whinging about the "preferable" treatment USFJ servicemembers receive in Japanese jails.
- NPR has done a program comparing the health care systems in Japan and the US. Make sure to read the comments because the Japanese health care system appears to be not as good as NPR says it is.
- How does a samurai kill a duck? This is how.

China
- Anyone know what this two wheel transport in China is?
- Anti-French demonstrations have hit China due to the French government’s talk of boycotting the opening ceremonies. Pictures of the anti-French protests can be seen by clicking here. Even more here.  These protests are huge.
- Now Chinese netizens declare Jin Jing as a traitor because of her criticism of the anti-French protests.
- Are the Chinese going to move the Olympic Games?
- CNN has really pissed off Chinese netizens with a report on the Situation Room calling the Chinese "goons and thugs".
- It shouldn’t be surprising then that CNN has now been blocked in China in response.
- More claims of western racism from China.
- Great while Robert Mugabe is busy trying to figure out how to steal the election he lost in Zimbabwe the Chinese have just sent him a whole boat load of guns and weapons to help him with.

    Sir,

Any clue what this “GO” button is that is moving down your links on the right hand side? I’m not able to click on the link to Mark’s website. I noticed it was moving the other day but didn’t think anything about it.

GI, I need your link every weekend to keep readers flowing my way. I’ve had to resort to posting the names of Battlestar Galactica actresses plus “nude” to draw hits…

Thanks for the link again, as always.

Since we’re on the topic of revisions, would you mind changing mine from “Brain in Jeollanam-do” to “Brian in Jeollanam-do”? Thanks.

Brian I fixed the link. Sorry about that, I click on that link all the time to get to your webpage and I never noticed it was misspelled.

Brendon I do check your site every week to see what you got posted but as interesting as your postings are I figure probably not to many people reading the ROK Drop are interested in postings about Franchise Disclosure Statements or Odd Price Differentials. However, Rekha Sharma nudes is something I think everyone is interested in.

Korea Law Blog definitely has the most “Rekha Sharma nude” content available on the entire Internet. But I would think that the odd price differentials issue is one people would find interesting — perhaps 90% as interesting as the nude Battlestar Galactica actress.

    @Sonagi,

I am shocked! Such a fresh mouth from a school teacher.

You know Sonagi, a little less vinegar and a little more sugar and you would not need to troll the Internet to get your jollies off. ChickenHead occasionally posts some sage comments that would be especially helpful for a randy American women like yourself. You should take some notes.

Just so you can’t say I wasn’t helpful, here is a (Work Safe) picture that should bring lots of fond memories of Korea.

    Enjoy

I know I am a bit late to the party, but I wrote a response to Schertzer’s piece here.

Nice work Dodds! Schertzer is a real piece of work. He has been busy drinking Korean cool-aid, and now is trying to force it on the rest of us.

Great picture of Schertzer at the bottom of your post. Notice anything funny about his smile?

Thanks Shattered. I wouldn’t assume anything about Schertzer outside of the things he has written, but he surely has decided that his advancement in Korean education comes through disgust for liberal values and the west in general.

That, and the reasoning behind his argument is pretty weak.
