The complete CIA video shown to the US Congress recently concerning the Syrian-North Korean nuclear connection has now been posted on the Internet for the public to view:
There is also a YouTube version of the video available that I have posted below as well:
After viewing video evidence there is pretty much no way anyone cannot come to the conclusion that the Syrians were building a nuclear reactor with North Korean assistance. Here are some of the best shots from the video that show that the reactor was built with North Korean help. This picture shows how the Al Kibar reactor uses the same gas cooled, graphite moderated design that the Yongbyon nuclear faciliy in North Korea uses:

This next photograph shows how the Al Kibar facility looks nearly identical to North Korea’s Yongbyon facility before the Syrians added the large box structure around it to disguise its appearance:

Here is how it looked after the box was added:

The release of this information however has already begun the calls that the CIA or the Israelis doctored the images and that they are fakes. These are probably the same people who think the moon landing is faked as well. Likewise you have people so infected with BDS that it is humorous to read all the Bush-Cheney-Israeli conspiracy theories over at Arms Control Wonk. Fortunately Bruce Klingner chimed in to add some sanity to the debate going on over there:
The Bush administration was likely compelled to divulge intelligence information on North Korean support to a covert Syrian nuclear program in response to Congressional demands that hindered future progress in the Six Party Talks. Congress indicated it was unwilling to provide funding for continuation of disablement activities of the Yongbyon nuclear reactor, a waiver of the Glenn amendment, nor agreement to remove North Korea from the terrorist list until it had received requisite intelligence briefings.
Bingo, that is what is exactly what is going on. The Bush Administration was eager to cut a deal with the North Koreans even if it was highly flawed in order to keep stability on the Korean peninsula until President Bush left office. The Bush administration knows that its legacy will be what happens in Iraq and thus do not want anything to happen that would affect the time and resources they are putting into Iraq. That is why the administration had been hoping to keep this Syrian-North Korean nuclear connection as quiet as possible in order to get a deal done with the North Koreans and put to what to them was just a sideshow compared to Iraq, to rest.
However, Senate Republicans rebelled against giving any funding for a deal with North Korea, removing them for the State Sponsors of Terrorism List, or dropping any sanctions if the intelligence information about the Syrian-North Korean nuclear connection was not disclosed to them. This is what forced the Bush administrations hand to disclose this information, not some Bush-Cheney-Haliburton-Israel-Easter Bunny conspiracy to take over the world.
