Ambassador Vershbow Says North Korea Must Declare Nuclear Activities

I tend to take Alexander Vershbow at his word since he hasn’t given me any reason not to (unlike other people); so the fact he is saying this I think is good news:

U.S. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow says his government will inform Congress of its intent to remove North Korea from a terrorism blacklist and lift trade sanctions on the North under certain conditions.

In a speech delivered Thursday to an international forum in Seoul, the envoy said Washington has pledged to do so if the North disables its nuclear facilities and makes a complete and accurate declaration of its nuclear programs.

He said that if North Korea keeps its promises, so will the United States .  [KBS Global]

Notice no talk about an indirect declaration or dropping sanctions before the dismantling of North Korea’s nuclear program.  Ambassador Vershbow made it quite clear that the North Koreans have to dismantle their nuclear program and make a complete and accurate declaration of their nuclear activities which also includes their proliferation with Syria.
