GI, I will try to upload the picture to the forum. The photo itself was rather small, so I scanned it at a higher resolution, so it may be a big file. My father once wrote down every army unit and location he was in during his 29 year career, but I need to see if I can locate it. I do know that when the Kprean conflict flared up, he had just re-enlisted after a brief time as a civilian. So he was among the first to be sent to Korea. He also fought in Vietnam, but he rarely talked about either war.
One of the things that I've noticed that sets my photo apart from other Daejon massacre photos I've seen on the net is that the bodies seemed to be arrainged in neat double rows as opposed to looking like they had been randomly thrown in ditches.

K.L. you can always upload the picture at the ROK Drop Forums and let myself and thousands of other people who read this site to take a look at the photo and see if we can recognize the mountains in the background of the photograph:

Post it on the web, place a link here and see what we can do.

The city is probably Daejeon (current spelling). The previous spelling was Taejon... and before that it was Daejon... and before that... well, you get the idea.

The mountains in the city are recognizable... so there is a chance the location can be guessed from the photo.

Good luck!

I found an old photograph of my late father's, that shows a mass grave with two rows of lined bodies, and the surrounding terrain looks mountainous. The photograph is very small, and on the back is written "South Koreans killed at Tae Jon(?) by North Koreans". The name of the site is faded but I think I read it right. There is no date on the photograph. Does anyone know of a website where I might be able to have the photograph analyzed?
