The fact that one was an officer and the other an NCO IMO has nothing to do with the sentences they were given.

First of all the two were tried to two separately different court houses, one in Uijeongbu and the other in Daegu. Secondly we don't know what the traffic violation of the SFC was. Did he just run a red light or did he drive dangerously on to the sidewalk nearly killing someone? That we don't know.

Also the officer may have been violating the 2ID driving policy since the vast majority of people are not allowed to drive POV up there as well as the fact he will probably be receiving a letter of reprimand pretty much ending his career. He will not be getting off light with a DUI conviction, I can ensure you of that.

Hmmm...

I wondered about that myself. I wouldn't think the Korean court would have separate standards for USFK officers and enlisted.

If I were to guess, the scenario would be like this:

Drunk Driver: "I did it. It was wrong. I'm stupid. I suck. I'll never, never, never do it agan. Thanks for guiding me to the right course of action."

Guy Who Ran Red Light: "Come on, man, everybody runs a red light in this funkin' country. Why are you messin' with me, huh? Don't you have something better to do?"

A couple hours sitting in an American traffic court showed me the exact same "justice" in action.

I don't understand:
DUI= 700,000
Traffic violation= 1,500,000

Does it have to do with fact that the DUI was commisioned and the traffic violator was not?
Can someone explain the (lack of) justice to me?
