Barack Obama Endorsed By the North Koreans

Kim Jong-il must really be looking forward to that meeting with no pre-conditions by a Barack Obama administration:

The Chosun Sinbo, the mouthpiece of North Korea’s Japanese front organization Chongryon and often for the North Korean regime itself, has announced its preference for Obama over McCain, whom it calls “a variant of Bush” and “nothing better than a scarecrow of neoconservatives,” which is a bit odd considering that the Bush Administration’s giveaway diplomacyClinton’s awful performance. is better for Kim Jong Il than even

In addition to calling McCain a neocon and a Bush clone, it cites Obama’s willingness to meet with Kim Jong Il without preconditions.

It’s worth pausing to consider the disturbing rhetorical similarity between the Chosun Sinbo and Daily Kos, although the sheer incoherence of Bush’s North Korea policy makes any comparison to it questionable.  [One Free Korea]

I had to laugh at the Daily Kos comparison because it so true at times.  Anyway I do find it interesting how this North Korean endorsement for Obama comes after he recently just flipped flopped on his North Korea policy and decided to advocate taking North Korea off the State Sponsors of Terrorism List.  This policy change came despite the fact that Obama signed a letter promising to keep North Korea on the list if they did not come clean on the whereabouts of US resident Kim Dong-shik who was kidnapped and probably killed by North Korean agents operating in China.

Like One Free Korea I share the sentiment that this endorsement shouldn’t be held against Obama if he comes out and disavows it, but at the same time he should answer questions on why he decided to break his promise to the family of Kim Dong-shik who are his constituents in Illinois and instead award North Korea by promising them he would take them off the terrorism list.  This broken promise to the Kim family is much worse then this North Korean endorsement.

You can read a whole lot more over at Michelle Malkin, the Jawa Report, Little Green Footballs, and Gateway Pundit who have all commented on the original OFK article.

People are fed up with fox news and Republicans. As a former Republican here in the states all I can say to you is that the “shock and awe” has turned a 180 here in the states. I like your blog, but the pro-Conservative stance is not going to fly anymore.

What is “pro-conservative” about condemning a politician for breaking a promise he made in writing to his constituents in regards to the kidnapping, torture, and probable killing of a husband and father of US citizens?

As long time readers know I have long been critical of President Bush’s North Korea policies so it shouldn’t be any surprise that I’m critical of Obama as well.

It seems “a listener” has confused “conservatives” with the abominations that are passed off as Republicans these days.

With that in mind, I can certainly believe people are fed up with Faux News and Republicans.

As for people being fed up with a classical Conservative stance that champions a small, unintrusive government with fiscal responsibility, Libertarian values and even Paleoconservatism… well… not so much.

Neoconservatives ARE NOT CONSERVATIVES. A Neoconservative, by their own definition, is “a liberal who was mugged by reality.”

…and the liberal apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

Birds of a feather flock together. All of the above bloggers hated Obama before he flipflopped. OFK is the only blog I read regularly, and I know that Joshua will criticize a politician of any stripe whose views on North Korea conflict with his. I can’t say the same about the others who, like so many on either side of political divide, spend most of their time spitting at the other side.

The thing is only the conservative blogs will criticize Obama over this. I haven’t seen one liberal blog like Kos or Huffington criticize Obama on his North Korea policies. In fact do they criticize Obama on anything? Feel free to drop links because I only check out the larger liberal blogs so maybe on wrong.

At least the conservative blogs criticize both Bush and McCain regularly unlike the liberal blogs who seem to be able to find no faults with Obama.

    GI:

Bush’s performance has been so awful his second term that Fox turned on him a long time ago, and other conservative and Republican media, commentators, and pundits have followed suit. Likewise, McCain was not a favorite candidate from the beginning. The lukewarm support is obvious and one of the reasons he will probably lose in November. I don’t read regularly any of the big blogs on either side, so I don’t know whether it’s true that Huff and Kos have nothing but love for Obama. I may have a look when I get back from my trip.
