Political Left in Korea Blocks Mad Cow Investigation

Is it any wonder why the political left in Korea wants to block this investigation?:

On the 25th the Democratic Party criticized the decision of the Grand National Party to call the producers of PD Notebook, the MBC program which ignited the controversy over American beef and mad cow disease, as well as former Prime Minister Han Deok-su and former Finance Minister Gweon Oh-gyu to testify before the National Assembly’s investigation into the beef matter.

National Assembly representative Heung Jun-pyo said, “the investigative committee on beef needs to create an opportunity to clear up the fears of the people created by a confused government and rampant rumors. We must investigate and expose the internet rumors which sprang from PD Notebook’s distorted report.”

On the battle between the ruling and opposition parties over the summonses to PD Notebook he said, “after the agreement was made between the ruling and opposition parties it was reversed and confusion has prevailed, but the opposition has examined the process, and we have not accomplished anything because they do not wish to examine the origin of rumors about mad cow disease. The opposition is not cooperating and even obstructing the calling of witnesses to a substantive and honest investigation.” [Korea Beat]

Make sure to read the rest from Korea Beat, but I for one would love the hear how PD Diary came about their highly flawed mad cow story that set off the Cows Gone Wild craziness.

No surprise here. Birds of a feather flock together: UDP, DLP, NPP, MBC, and KBS.
