It is Liberation Day in Korea and Seoul City Hall isn’t the only place you can go to celebrate it:
A ceremony to commemorate the National Liberation of Korea in 1945 on Aug. 15 will be held for the first time on Dokdo, a rocky island situated off the eastern coast of the Korean Peninsula.
The local government of Gyeongsangbuk-do (North Gyeongsang Province) decided to hold the 63rd anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945) on Dokdo in order to re-confirm Korea’s ownership of the island.
The hour-long ceremony will proceed with a salute to the national flag, a keynote speech, a congratulatory speech and three cheers for the country. Also for this year, over 200 Korean traditional Shield Kites (Bangpae-yeon) will fly over Dokdo. [Korea.net]
I guess those 45 policemen and 5 captains on Dokdo got to do something with their time.

Why won’t you people listen to Uncle Lee Myeong-bak!!! He said it is FOUNDATION DAY … NOT LIBERATION DAY!!!
Long-live Foundation Day because Uncle LMB said so.
But as a side note, some politicians are talking about having a “Dokdo Day”. I say, “GREAT!!!!” Just what Korea needs…more holidays. BUT BE SURE IT IS A THREE-DAY BREAK LIKE THIS HOLIDAY.
Long live LMB and three-day holidays!!!
