TV Reporter Completes Live Broadcast After Being Shot

This Georgian TV reporter received a grazing wound after being shot at by a Russian sniper and yet completed her live news report:

(via Blackfive)

Pretty tough woman to complete the news report after being wounded. The stories of the indiscipline of Russian troops are continuing to spread especially with the footage of Russian troops robbing a Georgian bank. The news media may ultimately be a better weapon for the Georgia government then their own military if these reports of the Russian military targeting civilians continues.

Not that the Russians care but their image has taken another hit internationally with their threats to nuke Poland now. Are we on the verge of Cold War II?

I saw the video when it first appeared with the same question. Was she brave or stupid? I thought she was brave. She wasn't trying to grandstand or overplay her injury, she took the proper precautions before she continued, however, she shook it off and she just continued doing what she does. She wasn't terribly overwhelmed by the event either, as I'm sure many other reporters in the same situation would have pee'd thier pants. Most males included.

I know I'm being a hardened cynic here, but is there a possibility of this being staged?

Look closely at the bandage as it is being applied. There is no sopped up blood though the blood seems to have flowed rather freely down her arm onto her hand in a very short period. Also notice the first evidence of a wound is only after she is getting seated after coming out from behind the door of the van.

Understand that I know well enough not to scoff at people with battle wounds and their courage — but I just want to be sure the journalists aren't faking "evidence" to gain world-wide sympathy for their cause. Remember the photos of journalists in Bosnia getting shot? Great stuff to shift world opinion. Could they be doing it here too?

I'm NOT saying it is a fake. All I'm saying is view it with a grain of salt.

Hadn't thought of that, however you are correct in saying the media have, on numerous occasions, taken sides to the point of manufacturing events. Thanks, in this day and age one needs to scrutinize the media very carefully before determining whether it is accurate, manufactured, or propaganda. I get the large majority of my news from reliable sources on the net. The MSM just doesn't cut the mustard. (did I say that?)

Good point Kalani because she is a Georgian news reporter so maybe this could be a Georgian information operation to influence global public opinion?

Who knows but interesting thought nonetheless.

I don't think the Georgians need to do a whole lot to influence public opinion though considering how bad the Russians are behaving anyway.

I'm fairly cynical as well. So it wouldn't surprise me to find out if this was staged.

However, there have been reports that the Russians have been targeting journalists intentionally. Earlier in Tskhinvali, I believe, the press were complaining that as soon as they would get set up, Russian bullets and mortars would start coming down on them.

I saw this on Fox the other day and that sniper ought to be shot as it was just a grazing wound. The reporter acted as something was wrong but she once she realised she was shot, made her way to a van and sat down.
