Female North Korean Spy Arrested in Korea

» by GI Korea in: NK Spies

Like North Korea reneging on their nuclear agreement, I hope no one is surprised by the fact that the North Koreans are using the age old espionage tactic of sex for information:

Prosecutors indicted a 34-year-old North Korean female defector Wednesday on charges of spying for the communist nation.

The woman, identified as Won Jeong-hwa, allegedly relayed military secrets she obtained from Army officers with whom she was having sexual relations over the past five years to the North.

She is the first female spy to be arrested since Lee Sun-sil, a key figure in North Korea’s Communist Party, was apprehended on espionage charges in 1992, and the first defector to violate the National Security Law.

Prosecutor Kim Kyeong-su said this was also the first case of spying uncovered since the two Koreas held a historic summit in 2000.  [Korea Times]

Of course read the whole link for the nitty gritty details but besides getting military secrets she was also trying to find out the where abouts of North Korean defectors within South Korea including some prominent ones.  It makes you wonder if the North Koreans were planning to assassinate some of them if they were able to get the information?

I do have to correct the Korea Times though, this is not the first time a case of spying has been uncovered since the two Koreas held the 2000 Inter-Korean summit.  Example 1, Example 2 and Example 3.  Heck the spying by North Korea probably extended all the way into the Blue House but we will never know because former Korean President Roh Moo-hyun stopped the probe.  Need I go on with examples?

However on a good note, it appears that the cleaning out of the National Intelligence Service by Lee Myung-bak is starting to show some dividends.

The only thing in regards to this spy case though I would be surprised by is if she is the only one. I’m sure the NIS is doing a thorough review of all other defectors right now that may be possible spies unlike the cover ups of the Roh Moo-hyun years.

It makes one wonder if other spies like her have played a significant role in the anti-American protests over the past ten years. :???:

If you look at her uncesored pic over on Chosun Ilbo she looks like some crusty bar madam — hardly the blushing bride she attempts to simulate in the above image.

The Noh administration was the culmination of years of North Korean intelligence and espionage activites. Kim Jong Il most likely masturbates nightly to the thought of just how close he was to the South handing itself over without a fight while his puppet stooge spoke of Sunshine and Dokdo.

If what is said is true, she is the sleaziest example of Korean womanhood ever to walk the face of the earth. Forget about the spy activities — but as a mother. She supposedly came to Korea married a Korean factory worker named Choi but was 7 months pregnant with the baby of a Korean businessman name Cho. Once here she gives birth, then claims to be a North Korean defector and divorces. Where is baby???

She shacks up with a policeman in Suwon, screws around with military guys, starts playing house with an officer. Back again what kind of woman is this? I have nothing but revulsion even thinking about her.

But next let’s talk about her FATHER-IN-LAW. This North Korean guy comes over AFTER she is in country, so who the hell is her husband? As he’s North Korean, the husband can’t be the South Korean factory workers. Who is this guy and who is her REAL husband? This “father-in-law” supposedly has a nephew that married high up the hierarchy in North Korea. This is getting too confusing…

Based on Roh’s presidency, I’d say she has the perfect credentials for the highest office in South Korea.
