A very slow month for criminal prosecutions in USFK last month which is probably due to the major training exercise that occurred in August. There were only three incidents reported in the August with probably the most serious being the guy convicted of attempted arson.
USFK Court-Martial Results for August 2008
At a general court-martial on 18 July 2008, Private (E-2) Eric B. Alcazar, 520th Maintenance Company, 194th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion, was convicted of larceny and forgery. His adjudged sentence was reduction to the grade of private E-1, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, confinement for 6 months and a bad-conduct discharge.
Results of ROK Criminal Prosecutions for August 2008
In Suwon District Court on 13 August 2008, Private Michael D. McCaughey of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, was convicted of two counts of attempted arson and destruction of property. His adjudged sentence was imprisonment for 8 months, suspended for 2 years.
In Seoul Central District Court on 20 August 2008, Private First Class Robert S. Scheffel of 595th Maintenance Company, was convicted of a violation of the Act on Punishment of Violent Acts, etc. His adjudged sentence was imprisonment for 1 year, suspended for 2 years.
