I can only imagine what this suspension is about:
The commander of the 2nd Infantry Division’s 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team has been suspended in the midst of an 8th Army investigation.
Col. Robert M. Roth was suspended Sept. 24, an 8th Army spokesman confirmed Thursday after a Stars and Stripes query.
“The investigation arises from events that allegedly occurred prior to the officer’s assumption of command,” wrote 8th Army spokesman Lt. Col. Jeffrey Buczkowski in an e-mail response.
Before taking over 1st Brigade, Roth served as chief of the future operations division for U.S. Forces Korea at Yongsan Garrison.
Eighth Army officials did not say what the investigation was about, citing a policy of not commenting on details of ongoing investigations. Roth’s removal came in the midst of a battle command seminar and preparations for a division-wide electronic battle simulation.
Attempts to reach the colonel through military spokesmen this week were unsuccessful. [Stars & Stripes]
Colonel Roth hasn’t been in command very long with him taking command back on June 27th. The picture above is of Colonel Roth during his change of command ceremony. It must be something pretty serious he is being accused of for the Division Commander to suspend him.
Remember he is innocent until proven guilty for whatever he is getting accused of though it is the first time I can remember a brigade commander being suspended like this.

He was relieved for something that happened while in charge of USFK Future OPS .
I bet it was something to do with helping some large company win a contract in the Future Ops

Future Ops has nothing to do with contracts. Future Ops is a staff section typically responsible for planning operations 60-90 days out.

He wasn’t relieved, he was suspended while they investigate whatever it is they are investigating. I’m not rushing to judgement on this one.

Is this an Army thing…suspended while under investigation?
Either way his credibility is shot.

I’m amazed that they actually went through with this.
One of the reasons Joes hate to be stationed in Korea is the double standard when it comes to CSMs and senior officers. Everything from bribes, affairs, misuse of TMPs, relationships with enlisted. im almost inclined to believe this is a trojan horse to protect someone higher ranking. CSMs will ruin the career of a junior nco to hide their crimes, why not throw a colonel under the bus to cover up a bigger scandle?

AH, the never ending hypocrisy of the Army, no telling what he did: improper realtionship with a subordinate, paying a “barfine”, having an affair, and etc who knows but worst case scenario he will “retire” while an enlisted person alleged of the same offences would be hung out to dry
