I wonder how anyone knows whether these pictures are current or not?
North Korean media say leader Kim Jong-il, who is rumored to be ill, has inspected a female artillery military unit.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency says that Kim also took pictures with the troops but didn’t say when he visited the unit.
The North’s Korean Central TV meanwhile released photos of him inspecting the unit, which is a first in 58 days since the KCNA unveiled similar photos in August.
But the Korean Central TV did not say when Kim inspected the unit.
But given that the media reports first emerged early Saturday, his troop visit could have taken place on or before Friday, which marked the 63rd anniversary of the Workers’ Party. [KBS Global]

Judging from the pictures it appears Kim has lost a little to no weight from whatever illness he had, if he even had an illness at all when compared to pictures of him before:
So whatever illness he had sure didn’t cause him to lose a lot of weight if any at all or could it be these pictures of him are not actually current? Just like with most things with North Korea, who knows?

As everyone in the world should know by now, Korea has four distinct seasons; and the season in the newly released photos is most likely not Fall. Hence the smart money is on non-current photos being released.
