I have something in common with Ricci. I married my "Yobo" back at the Kun in 1978. We are still together, have grown kids and are happy. She still looks great to me, sexy even in her 50's. We did the full stint of the military and enjoyed several cultures and experiences. She manages a small business and works hard at it. No regrets, I'm happy I didn't hook up with some american girls that I knew before Kim. They either ballooned out or could never settle down with just one man. I can't replace the hardship or fun memories of being at the "kun" (was stationed there twice - yeah, what's wrong with this picture! I love Korea and my Korean bride!

Haven't posted here in awhile. Was with the Comm Group 76-78. A-Town was great. No "jiuce girls" that I know off, but plenty of relax time there. Long Beach was my favorite haunt. My "yobo" and I have been togehter since 1977, and I couldn't be happier. Fropm those humble beginnings we endured, she has now risen to ranks in the woqrking world to Store Manager of JC Penneys. Luv her to death. We were able to travel the world during my military career, and she engrossed herself with each different culture, embraced it, learn from it, and educated herself. Next month we are headed back to Korea to visit my in-laws in Cholla-Nam-Do, near Kwangju; great place, spiritual, clean and quite. 3 weeks of purse bliss when we go back. For those ladies back in the states that see "foreigners" as invasive, please remember, we are all imports. Korea is a beautiful place, its culture is historic and majestic, and the people are grateful. Techincally speaking as well, they are WAY ahead of the U.S., have more students involved in the sciences and math, and fiercely family oritented. A town was just but a small portion of what is otherwise a deverse country. Take a look in ones backyard in the states, and you won't see family unity, cultural awareness, committment to succeed, instead, you'll see welfare generations, weapons being brought to school, un-wed pregancies, disrecpt for family values, etc. Thats it.....take care all

@25 Not every spouse cheats. Also, I would think as a spouse you would or should know your husband better than anyone else in the world. Is he a dirty horn dog that hoots and hollers and catcalls every skirt walking down the sidewalk. Does he text anonymous people and keep his cell on lock? Does he like to drink and rent porn, have you found a very explicit porn stash (and I am not talking about Playboy.) if yes, to any or all of these questions you might need to worry. If you can soundly say no then you should give your guy the benifit of the doubt. Again, not everyone cheats.

P.S. If you are worried about his manly needs perhaps you can provide him with those types of videos and or photographs that couples sometimes make together so he will have a safe outlet to uh...vent.

@9 Wow, you either have to let go of the hate an animosity you feel towards your husband, forgive AND forget or you seriously need to get a divorce. When asked how many times we should be forgiven Jesus replied, 70 times 7. Either forgive and forget or get a divorce because if you can't let go of the hurt, the hate, or the bitterness you will have wasted your life. "Let he who as not sinned cast the first stone."

Fellas,

After a 33 1/2 year absence from Korea, I intend to make it back there for a long awaited return trip I have thought about for decades. What will it be like? As some have said here in the thread, I have also looked through Google satellite pictures, and its obvious things are very different than they were in 1975/1976 when I was posted to Tacoma Microwave Site. That was a hilltop between Kunsan (city) and what was then called Iri (now Irksan, if I have it right). I intend to visit A-town and take digital pictures and would love to share with anyone who has an interest in what the place looks like now. Just email me: mutzu501@gmail.com - would love to share stories and memories of that extraordinary place.

Duffy, Nice post. If you ever make it there I would love to see a posted picture or two of the main A Town street as it is now. A daytime shot would be great. I think the forum would allow it but I don't have a clue how to post them.
Safe travels if you go. Your wife meeting an old friend is so nice.

Just want to say I loved it to. My recent confusion with the way Korea is now is coming to an end as I realize things change. I will always love South Korea, and Hope the North stops their ways. I apologize to anyone i ever offended with my questions and/or comments about how Korea has changed and how I felt about anti American Feelings from Korean people. It will be alright. Its Korea. Just read a 3500 year history had allot of cool things I had missed. Korean people are still confused a bit about how to act with the rest of the world and a bit with themselves. But it don't stop them from moving forward. Maybe that is why they are enjoying each other so much now days. My hat will always be tipped to the ladies that served Korea from war finish till they didnt need them in the villes anymore. They will be angels to me for the res of this life. And many faces have stayed in my mind. As far as the juicy girls. I will not ever even think about excepting that culture and hope it ends up like Kim Jung Il. Me and mama had our 30th, and it was like any other day. Only we have come to realize we are definitely part of each other. That is my girl I met in Korea in 1980. And our together must be somewhat like an example. Korea and US will never part ways. Yes some will try to make that happen but it will not. When we visit Korea we will go to A town and we will go to the old Ville outside Humphreys just to see if any of those people are still there. If so it will be a happy reunion. My wife ran into a friend she knew when she was child at a Korean store in Portland OR. The two of them were like silly kids. I would love to see folks from the days.

Hi Bob, Nice to see your reply to mine. I figured someone would remember Hess even if it was just the name. The guy was huge and ruled A-Town. I do remember the bus rides and checks. The excitement of going down to A-Town at night has stuck with me. I remember Charlie Browns. The Long Beach (the Korean girls always said "Long Beachy") comes to mind. Lucky's tailor shop was on the left near the beginning after going through the gate. I had shirts custom made there and 70s shoes that had to be seen to be believed. I had all the fun and eventually settled on two Yobos. Never had trouble with either and the first found a guy she liked better and I wasn't even mad. The second was great and as noted I hope her later life was better. She was hot stuff and I hope some fellow moved her away from there. There was a restaurant on the right maybe even just outside the gate. They were the nicest people and their daughter was not part of the A Town scene. I don't think I have ever seen a prettier Asian girl in my life. They had some money and I bet she did well. A-Town was what you made of it and for me it was Disneyland. I even liked it there in the daytime on days off. No juice girls for you and I. I think we were there at a great time. I cherish my memories.
