It’s sad news for a proud unit. The position used to be a general-maker — meaning that after you left you pinned on your star. One wonders what duty-performance factor could have been so bad as to rate his removal. It was bad enough to result in a “lack of confidence” in his performance — and an end to his career. Sad news.
Kunsan Air Base’s commander was relieved of his duties Monday by Pacific Air Forces commander Gen. Howie Chandler due to lack of confidence in the colonel’s performance, according to U.S. Air Force spokesmen.
Col. Bryan Bearden, 45, had commanded Kunsan’s 8th Fighter Wing since May — completing six months of a one-year tour.
“The decision was driven solely by duty performance factors,” according to a Kunsan news release on Monday.

From being here, it seems like he was set up. I mean the guy was fired over the base's failure of TWO UCI's (unit compliance inspections), one of which happened under the last commanders reign, and the other happened like a month or two after bearden took command. And now this…WOW, imma tell yall now, this colonel was the chit, i mean he was a cool guy, had his head on straight, and lead us right…

My husband worked for COL Bearden several years ago. COL Bearden was a brilliant man and a true hero. I have no idea what happened here, but I'm certain he didn't deserve to be relieved of duty. May God bless him and his family.
