Koreantown Featured on CSI “Say Uncle” Episode

For those that watched the latest episode of CSI they would have seen that the show featured Las Vegas’ Koreatown community. Basically the CSI team has to solve the double murder of a Korean brother and sister that occurred in the middle of a neighborhood block party. It also just so happens that the sister is a drug addicted, HIV positive prostitute that had double eyelid surgery, not to mention having a HIV positive kid as well. The brother is a ex-con that just got out of jail. Not exactly the best of characters to represent the Korean-American community.

You can see video of the murder seen from the CSI website.

Here is a YouTube video that previews the episode:

If you want to read the whole plot of the episode it is available here, but it is one of the few times you will hear Gil regret solving the crime.  Something else of interest from this episode is that Heroes star James Kyson Lee served as the police translator to question the Korean witnesses that saw the crime.

The guest casting from the episode shows that a quite a number of Korean-Americans starred in the episode:

Det. Chris Cavaliere: Jose Zuniga
Henry Andrews: Jon Wellner
Korean Teenager: Olivia Sui
Park Bang.: Gavin Toy
Korean Father: Brian Fong
Jang: Sung Kang
Kora Sil: Jin Yang
Sung Bang: Kevin Moon
Plastic Surgeon: Robert Dahey
Bob Lenz: Patrick Labyorteaux
Bae Chin: Lauren Tom
Jin Ming/Mr. Pan: Lanny Joon
Mrs. Lee June: Kyoko Lu
Officer Mitchell: Larry Mitchell
E.R. Doctor: Anthony DeSantis
Dr. Eisling: Peter MacKenzie
Office Kwan: James Kyson Lee
Officer Akers: Larry Sullivan

Anyway it is always interesting to see Korea or Koreans depicted by Hollywood just because it is so rare but for whatever reason in recent years it definitely seems like Korea and Koreans are definitely getting more air time from Hollywood compared to past years.
