Study: Kimchi Prevents Aging

» by in: Korea-Food

Here is yet another story on how kimchi is good for you:

A study finds that Korean pickled cabbage kimchi is an effective anti-aging agent.

A committee promoting Korean food working under the Rural Development Administration said that after injecting kimchi samples into human skin cells and inducing the aging process, 75 percent of the cells remained normal. However, more than half of the cells had aged when no kimchi samples were injected.

Moderately fermented kimchi, having an acidity of pH four-point-two, was found to be the most effective in preventing aging.

Also, levels of Vitamin B1 and B2 were found to be at their highest three weeks after kimchi is made.  [KBS Global]

K-logic as applied to sex industry:

Kimchi prevents enforcement of the Anti-Prostitution law.

A study (any study, like the one I did 5 min ago) finds that Korean pickled cabbage kimchi is an effective anti-prostitution-policing agent.

A committe promoting Korean punani working under the Red-light/Barbershop/Room Salon/Coffee Shop/Call girl Anti*ahem*Development Administration said that after injecting kimchi samples into sleeping police officers and inducing a series of ass-scratching and hat-dusting, 75 percent of the officers remained apathetic about enforcing the law. However, more than half of teh officers had extorted money and/or favors when no kimchi samples were injected.

Any kind of kimchi or even just chongshik (regular meal) and a shot of soju was found to be the most effective in preventing anything from getting done much less enforcing such a lucrative law.

Also, levels of enforcement of any law were found to be at their highest 3 days after some high ranking official bitches or designates a day. The most recent being the day where and official complained that dabang girls (coffee shop girls, usually fresh out of high school) weren't paying their taxes and so a crackdown ensued where police taxed their asses, often twice in a 5min period.

In related news, a local study has found that an increase in gastric cancer from a kimchi-heavy diet also increases longevity:

"Among the papers not to be found in the vast library of the kimchi museum is one published in June 2005 in the Beijing-based World Journal of Gastroenterology titled “Kimchi and Soybean Pastes Are Risk Factors of Gastric Cancer.”

"The researchers, all South Korean, report that kimchi and other spicy and fermented foods could be linked to the most common cancer among Koreans. Rates of gastric cancer among Koreans and Japanese are 10 times higher than in the United States.

"“We found that if you were a very, very heavy eater of kimchi, you had a 50% higher risk of getting stomach cancer,” said Kim Heon of the department of preventive medicine at Chungbuk National University and one of the authors. “It is not that kimchi is not a healthy food – it is a healthy food, but in excessive quantities there are risk factors.”

"Kim said he tried to publicize the study but a friend who is a science reporter, told him, “This will never be published in Korea.”"

Sesame I think you are onto something.

Empirical research would suggest that kimchi also seems to be an effective anti-relocation agent.

Kimchi probably has some health benefits. The red pepper is fairly new and may be the item that is causing the stomach problems. Americans need to wage a war against drinking soda with corn syrup. I think this may be what is making Americans so overweight.
We should go back to regular sugar (cane) in our diet.
If America’s weight trend continues for the next 50 years it will destroy the country.
